I can’t do much since I lost my sight. I can eat and I can talk! That’s okay for me; I’m happy enough. Why worry about things that have already happened? - Tulsi Maya Ghale

About Us

We unite for Equality

The great British Empire was not built in a day. Innumerable soldiers from the Himalayan nation of Nepal have fought for the United Kingdom and the tradition continues until today. The East India Company formally recruited Nepalese soldiers who later became the infamous elite group yclept ‘Gurkhas’ in 1817 during the war of Pindaree. The Gurkhas, essentially, have served the UK for nearly two hundred years now. The lucrative recruitment, however, has resulted in deaths, migration, and, most importantly, unfair treatment.

WHO ARE BRITHISH GURKHAS AND THEIR ORGINATION

The name "Gurkha" comes from the hill town of Gorkha from which the Nepalese kingdom had expanded. The ranks have always been dominated by four ethnic groups, the Gurungs and Magars from central Nepal, the Rais and Limbus from the east, who live in villages of impoverished hill farmers.

Message From Chief Coordinator

It has been 205 years since Nepal and the UK entered into a bilateral relationship. In all those years, more than 250,000 Nepali Gurkha soldiers shed blood, sweat and tears for the UK. Many died, many untraceable till date. Neither Nepal government nor the UK government have an accurate record of it. Hopefully this is will be looked into at some point in future. For the past 3 decades, various Gurkha welfare organisations have actively urged Nepal and the UK government to resolve Gurkha’s grievances however, till date both governments have not been able to conclude this matter.
